Updates on IKN Progress: Ministerial Residences to Drinking Water Supply

The construction of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) is ongoing and has garnered public attention as it will be used for Indonesia's Independence Day ceremony on August 17. As of July 4, the overall progress of IKN's construction has reached 45.1%.

This progress of 45.1% consists of 106 packages divided into three batches with a total contracted budget of IDR 83.4 trillion. For the first batch, which includes projects contracted between 2020 and 2023, there are 40 packages with a physical progress of 88.2% and a total contracted budget of IDR 25 trillion.

For the second batch, which includes packages contracted between April and November 2023, there are 31 packages with a physical progress of 46.7% and a total budget of IDR 27.6 trillion. The third batch, including packages contracted from December 2023 to 2024, consists of 35 packages with a physical progress of 8.6% and a total budget of IDR 30.7 trillion. Here is detailed information on ministerial houses, the State Palace, and clean water supply in IKN.

1. Ministerial Houses in IKN
Fourteen ministerial official residences (RTJM) in IKN, located in parcel 105, have been completed. Imam S. Ernawi, Head of the IKN Infrastructure Development Planning Task Force at the Ministry of PUPR, stated that of the 14 ministerial houses in IKN, four are ready for use, while the remaining 10 will have furniture installed soon.

"Of the 14 houses, four are fully functional including the furniture. The remaining 10 will have their interiors furnished this week. All houses will be equipped with furniture," he said in an online press conference on Thursday (July 11, 2024). Imam mentioned that the residential area in IKN will eventually include various supporting facilities, such as a clubhouse, but this will be realized after the Independence Day ceremony on August 17.

"Since this is a residential area, it will be equipped with infrastructure including connecting bridges, a clubhouse, a meeting hall, and a management office. However, after the Independence Day, we will focus on the houses and access facilities," he added.

2. ASN-Hankam Apartments
The apartments (Rusun) for ASN-Hankam in IKN will be occupied by civil servants in September. By July 2024, 12 towers out of a total of 47 are expected to be functional. "For the 17th, we have 12 towers ready, primarily eight towers for ASN and four for Hankam. The target for occupancy is September. For August, the target is different. In July, the target is 12 towers," said Imam.

He noted that not all apartment towers are expected to be completed by the end of July, as many are contracted until October. The construction progress of each apartment varies. Here is the progress as of July 4, 2024:

ASN 1: 61.5%
ASN 2: 45.48%
ASN 3: 57.90%
ASN 4: 73.54%
Polri BIN: 70.51%
Paspampres: 57.46%

Each apartment tower consists of 12 floors, with 10 floors used as residential units (six units per floor) and two floors for social and general facilities. Each apartment unit is 98 m² with three bedrooms and comes furnished.

3. Presidential Palace Area
The construction of the State Palace and the ceremonial grounds in IKN has reached 82.73% and is expected to be functional by the end of July 2024. "The main rooms in the State Palace, including the President's Office, will be functional by the end of July," Imam said.

The ceremonial grounds are ready for use, including the podium for the ceremony. "Everything is 100% functional and ready for use. The ceremonial grounds can accommodate about 8,000 people," he added. As of July 4, the President's Office has reached 88.54% completion, while the Secretariat President and supporting buildings have progressed 92.31%.

4. Clean Water Supply to IKN
As the Independence Day ceremony approaches, the readiness of clean water supply is a critical question. Imam stated that drinking water would be ready for IKN by July 17, 2024. Currently, the water supply is undergoing testing and commissioning. The clean water in IKN will be of drinking quality and safe for direct consumption. "The drinking water is now in the testing and commissioning phase, even though it's only the first stage. The third stage of commissioning is expected to be completed by July 17," he explained in the online press conference on Thursday (July 11, 2024).

Imam mentioned that the testing and commissioning are done in stages to check the system's functionality. Any issues found will be immediately addressed. "We are testing in stages to identify any system issues and make necessary repairs. There are several system options, and if the water quality is already good, it can bypass certain subsystems," he explained.

The drinking water supply has a capacity of 150 liters per second, sufficient to meet the needs of operational areas in IKN. "By July 17, the commissioning will be completed. The water, with a capacity of 150 liters per second, will be transmitted to the reservoir above the palace, with a capacity of 6,000 cubic meters, and it will be drinking quality," he elaborated. Before being distributed, the water quality will be checked to ensure it is safe for use. The water will flow to various areas in IKN, including residential and office areas.

"There will be quality checks at each stage, from the source to the reservoir, and again before distribution to individual parcels," he added.
