Jokowi: IKN Will Become a New Economic Growth Point!
President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) emphasized that the Nusantara Capital, in East Kalimantan, will become a new center of economic growth, especially for the central and eastern regions of Indonesia.While inspecting the pumping system in Bantaeng Regency, South Sulawesi, Jokowi was asked if the province of South Sulawesi would benefit economically from the construction of IKN. Jokowi assured that the economic benefits would definitely be felt.
Jokowi stated that once IKN becomes a living city, there will be a high demand for various goods, especially food, from IKN to surrounding areas. He mentioned that Nusantara City would become a new market with great potential.
South Sulawesi Province, known as Indonesia's food barn, will certainly gain from these economic opportunities.
"Yes, there will be demand, demand from the new market called IKN. Of course, if there is an excess of rice production here, it can be sent to IKN. If there is an excess of vegetable production here, it can be sent to IKN. The red onions, which also have good prices, can be sent to IKN," explained Jokowi in a press statement after his visit on Friday (5/7/2024).
Seeing this potential, the number one person in Indonesia is optimistic that Nusantara City will become a new economic growth point for the central and eastern regions of Indonesia.
Not only will it become a new economic growth point, but Jokowi also wants IKN to be the center of Indonesia's economic transformation, moving towards green economic development.
"I believe IKN will become a new economic growth point, and we also want it to be an economic transformation center, especially related to the green economy," emphasized Jokowi.
