Trackless Train in IKN Ready for Trial on August 10!
The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) has announced that the Autonomous Rail Transit (ART), also known as the autonomous trackless train, is ready to be tested in the Nusantara Capital City (IKN). The short route trial is scheduled to take place on August 10.
The Director General of Railways (DJKA), Kemenhub, Risal Wasal, stated that the DJKA team is currently conducting internal testing on the ART's facilities, infrastructure, and human resources. The internal testing is expected to be completed by Friday (August 9).
"If all goes well, we aim to have the ART ready for dynamic (moving) testing on a short route (small loop) on August 10, 2024," Risal said in an official statement on Tuesday (August 6, 2024).
Risal explained that the short route or small loop is a circular test route from the Kemenko 3 Building to the Kemenko 2 Building and back to the Kemenko 3 Building in the Central Government Core Area (KIPP) IKN.
He stated that the trial is being conducted in preparation for the operation of the ART during the 79th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia on August 17, 2024, in IKN. The trial phase will last approximately two months, starting from the dynamic trial. The testing is conducted to assess the operational feasibility of the ART.
The next stage will be an evaluation by DJKA together with the Nusantara Capital City Authority (OIKN) before it is showcased to the public from October 10 to December 31, 2024.
"Later, the ART will stop at eight stops along the main route of the Central Government Core Area (KIPP) IKN, and will be integrated with other modes of transportation, namely the bus rapid transit (BRT)," Risal explained.
