Zulhas Shares His Experience Staying in IKN, Says It's Like Washington DC and Already Has Clean Water
Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan shared his experience of staying in the new capital city, Nusantara (IKN). Zulhas, as he is commonly known, believes that the current condition of IKN is quite good.
Zulhas stayed at the Ministerial Residence (RTJM) along with President Joko Widodo and other ministers. This coincided with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) conducting the groundbreaking for various infrastructure projects in the new capital.
He mentioned that the air in IKN is still fresh and pollution-free. He predicts that once IKN is fully developed, it will be similar to Washington DC in the United States.
"IKN is amazing, Mashallah. It's still fresh and natural, though not fully developed yet. But once it's complete, it might resemble Washington DC," Zulhas told the media in Serang, Banten, on Thursday (6/6/2024).
Zulhas claimed that the ministerial houses in IKN already have clean water. He noted that all ministerial houses in IKN are completed, with only the interior finishing remaining.
He believes the ministerial houses are quite good. According to him, the current progress exceeds the initial target.
"(Is there water?) Of course there is. (How would we bathe without water?) The houses are nice. The current progress exceeds the target," he added.
He also mentioned that relocating the capital to IKN is a correct decision. Currently, Jakarta is a city full of pollution.
Jakarta's air quality index is nearing 200. Once it surpasses 200, Zulhas stated that the air in Jakarta could cause respiratory illnesses.
"Imagine Jakarta's pollution level almost reaching 200. At 200, if you run, you'll get a respiratory infection. Singapore is at 36," he explained.
Zulhas invited those who disagree with the IKN development to visit and stay there first. He said they should experience it firsthand before commenting.
"If there are people who don't agree with IKN, come first, stay overnight, see, feel, think about it, then comment. Don't never see, never come, never experience, and then get angry and criticize. See first," he added.
